SPARTA — Sparta: K.E.E.P.’s annual Kamikaze Cookoff returned on Wednesday to a happy group of hungry guests ready to try their hand at being a chef while enjoying good food and supporting the kids of Sussex County.

Always a popular event, the Cook-off was held at the HaLuLu Restaurant in Stanhope. Operations Director Linda Conrad said,

“This is such a fun event," Operations Director Linda Conrad said. "There are so many people who have once again helped make it a success. I-Heart/WSUS provided our audio equipment for the evening and donated some great door prizes. Glenda Flanagan, of Ultima Hair Designers Salon & Spa, also donated some very sought after door prizes along with great prizes from J. Thomas Jewelers and the Sussex County Miners. The continued support of these local businesses over the years has been amazing and I can’t thank them enough for all they have done and continue to do."

Evelyn Lott of Lafayette won the $500 Weis gift card.

"It was a great evening," Conrad said.

Conrad said K.E.E.P., is the largest non-profit child care provider in Sussex County and fundraisers are needed to provide families with affordable child care.

"The quality part is easy," Conrad said. "We have excellent, well-trained staff and great programs. Maintaining the “affordable" part is more challenging and can only be realized through fundraisers such as the Kamikaze Cookoff, Yankee Candle sales, etc."
