The Jefferson Township Recreation Department’s Karate Program will begin its next 10-week session on Monday, Sept. 10, and continue through Monday, Nov. 12. The program is open to school age children ages Kindergarten and up as well as adults.

This on-going program has been running for 12 years through the Recreation Department with instructors from the Jersey Judo Karate Academy of Kenvil teaching the Isshinryu style of Karate. The skills learned help students develop coordination, balance, posture, and endurance. Students also gain self-confidence and discipline through progression in karate, while studying the authentic form of Asian Martial Arts. Jersey Judo Karate Academy is run by Sensei Rick Norris, a Kudan (9th degree black belt), and the Academy’s staff includes over 50 certified, fully trained black belts.
