Richard J. Hreha of Vernon, a retired history teacher for the West Milford School District, West Milford, entered into rest Monday, Nov. 6. He was 85.

The son of John and Julia Klempa Hreha, he was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Elizabeth.

He was a U.S. Navy Korean veteran. He was a member of the Vernon VFW Post 8441, Vernon, and the P.L.A.V. Post 16, Pine Island, NY.

He was also a past president of both the Vernon Rotary and the Vernon Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen Krok Klempa; son Michael Hreha and stepsister Patricia Daly.

As per his wishes there will be no services and cremation will be held privately.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the T.S. Purta Funeral Home.
