Hilltop Country Day School will offer programming designed to meet the needs of the homeschooling community.

There will be six-week sessions on Mondays from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. to explore a variety of S.T.E.A.M. topics and access our state-of-the-art Makerspace Design Lab and 3D printer.

The year kicks off with a session on Bottle Biology from Sept. 11 through Oct. 27. In this course, students will learn how to explore science and the environment with soda bottles and other recyclable materials.

Next up is All About Bots from Oct. 30 through Dec. 8. During this 6-week session is where students make their own robots using simple motors and batteries. The art bots, bristle bots and a variety of other bots will be created and raced. The tiny vibrating motors allow for lots of scooting and racing.

Then, make connections during Crazy Circuits from Dec. 11 through Feb. 2. Students will use LED lights, motors and batteries to design squishy and paper circuits and other projects that will move, make sound and glow.

Then, from February 5 through April 6, the school will explore Super Science Experiments. Students will experiment with chemical reactions and test different properties while making a variety of real chemical reactions.

Then, engineer happier endings to classic fairytales from April 9 to May 11. Harness the power of fairy tales and myths to learn about engineering. Students will problem solve, generate design proposals and make connections as they engineer happier endings to favorite fairy tales.

Finally, we end with a special 3-week mini session on Bubble Science! Students will explore how bubbles form, test the limits of how big bubbles can get and engineer a variety of bubble wands and solutions in this special 3-week mini session. Students will explore 3D printing, chemistry, surface tension, and water molecules.
